the Pima Youth Partnership develops resources to promote the positive
growth of their children.”
Meetings/Announcements
After-School Program: A free after-school program,
limited to middle school students at Coronado School in portable H.
Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30–6:00
p.m. and Tuesdays from 1:30–6:00 p.m. The program provides life skills
lessons (positive decision-making and setting goals), homework tutoring,
use of 3 computers, arts and crafts, group games, sports, and free snacks.

Youth Advisory Council: This program is open to
local youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The youth meet to plan
activities, field trips, fundraisers, and community service projects. The
youth are given leadership opportunities and serve as the voice and vision
for youth in the community. Meetings are held the first and third
Wednesdays of each month at Coronado School, Portable I, from 3:30–5:00
p.m.
Youth and Family Resource Network: PYP will
facilitate the formation of a Network of Adults committed to the
development of community youth. This Network is open to any youth worker,
organization, parent, or individual concerned about local youth, programs,
and issues. Meetings are held during the day, once a month. Dates TBA.
Catalina Community Coalition: Targets decreasing
laws, norms, and policies favorable to substance abuse. The group
addresses issues and implements resources such as Naranon, Narcotics
Anonymous, and more. These meetings are held monthly at the Catalina
Recreation Center.
Teen Pregnancy Prevention: PYP offers teen
pregnancy prevention programs and classes. The “Managing Pressures Before
Marriage” and “Plain Talk for Parents” are abstinence-based education
programs. Classes offered as requested. For information call Jennifer at

The Pima Youth Partnership (PYP) works with youth in service work.
Parents, residents, and key leaders have volunteered their time and monies
in community projects. The Youth Advisory Council and the After-School
Program have implemented a community garden at the Catalina Recreation
Center. All vegetation is donated to the Catalina Food Bank and to the
Senior Center. The Catalina Garden Committee wrote a grant proposal to Pro
Neighborhoods and received funds for this unique project.
