  1. Call to Order by Mark Miller, Chairperson @ 2008
  1. Additions to Advance Agenda/Order of the Day - none
  2. Review/Corrections if any to prior posted minutes - none
  3. Secretaries Report – Joanne Linneman – no report
  4. Treasurers’ Report – Tommy Tucker – Two checks and one deposit since last report – reimbursement to chair for Corp Comm $80 and $60 for Skyp reimbursement (phone service for a year) $30 shirt sales income – $884.24 balance.
  5. Public Safety/Community Services –
    1. Sheriff’s Dept Report
    2. Golder Ranch Fire Department Report – Brian Savage - 218 calls over last month – 18 fire related – no structures – med & assist calls were the rest.  Avra Valley Fire Dist had financial difficulties – laid off 14 fire fighters – GRFD has 5 positions and were offered temporarily to these 14 FF out of work, until we offer our training schools.   Two new stations coming up – LaCanada and Lambert & Saddlebrook reserve will break ground soon.

Catalina Regional Park update – speaker not in attendance.

8.    Standing Committee Reports/Action items

a.    Commercial, Residential & Subdivision – Mark Kendall – nothing to update.

b.    communications committee- sue campbell (not in attendance) – post card will be sent to all residents of Catalina during the month of December.    Promoting website, phone number and January general meeting.   January meeting will have several speakers and discussion of Oro Valley/State Trust Land annexation process.   Letters will be sent to officials to be in attendance, including Ann Day, Pima County  Supervisor. 

c.    Finance Committee- mark miller – object to raise money for the community so the Council can get something done for the community.   Basha’s has a program for non-profit (501C) organizations -  we could possibly get a small percentage of sales.   We also would like to advertise and notify to get more folks involved to help plan for and promote and support the community.  

d.    Long range planning-tommy tucker – Committee was started years ago and members of the Committee backed out secondary to community pressure.   Tommy called again for volunteers from the community for help with a committee to look into Charter Community status to help us protect our way of life.    Tommy discussed options and obstacles involved with Oro Valley/annexation/incorporation, etc. etc.    Services that we can currently obtain from the County will  be further investigated.    What is it that the Community Needs?    What is a Charter City?   Mark  Miller discussed the  advantages/disadvantages to becoming a Charter City.  

e.    Community relations- Kristie foss – Kristie is out of town.  She’s trying to create a community outreach partnering committee.

  1. public anouncements – Mark Kendall asked that when audience views the website, if they find any inaccuracies, please let Mark Kendall or Sue Campbell know of the incorrect information so it can be updated.    Audience member indicated that the only way they know about meetings is a neighbor’s email or the sign on Columbus Blvd.   Mark let him know that that is one of the issues we are attempting to address.   Updated website and information phone  numbers are two ways that we are attempting to overcome the communication difficulties.    Radio Station is still waiting for FCC license.   Tucson Marathon is this Sunday and the end of the race is at Coronado School this year.   runners will be in Catalina for a longer period of time than years past.  
  2. Call to audience.   Anyone else interested in participating in any committees, please feel free to contact any council member.   Please let everyone know about the January meeting content.
